Email Absentees
It would be useful for an instructor to be able to set a threshold (70% attendance or 50% attendance, etc), click on "send email" and send an email (via quickmail perhaps) to all students whose attendance is below the threshold.

Punch in and punch out
Since we now have the start time of a session (and maybe duration) couldn't we use this to calculate whether a student is present, late, left early etc? Then we could just click "In" or "Out" and the status is calculated automatically. I would prefer that the students have to sign in/out themselves maybe with a password/barcode.
I think it will be nice in teacher view of block (Dmitry)
I think there should be two options:
1. Teachers punch students in and out (using the start time and duration to calculate present, absent, late, left early etc). Some javascript to… more

Import and Export Sessions
Import
It would be very useful to be able to import scheduled events from the Moodle Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, MRBS etc straight into the attendance_sessions table and not have to manually recreate them.Export
For those using the attendance module as the primary place of scheduling events/sessions the ability to export that into Outlook, Google Calendar etc would be great.16 votes -
Multiple instances of attendance within a single course
Multiple instances of attendance within a single course could be very helpful for faculties or higher education institutions in general.
Courses often have different absence rules for different types of class - e.g. as teachers, we might require that our students have to attend at least 50% of lectures and at least 75% of labs.
Having separate attendance activities for e.g. lectures and labs would improve visibility. Also, this would make manipulation with attendance grades within Moodle's gradebook more useful and flexible.

Merge AutoAttendance module
It would be great for you to merge in the autoattendance module which is not very well supported into your moduel which is well supported! I primarily like the ability to mark students as attended when they have accessed the online class a specific number of times a week. Thanks

Filter for 'Sessions' page
The ability to find/filter sessions by description, date, time, duration (or other Meta Data as above if/when available) etc. A filtered list could then easily be selected with 'Select All'. The 'With Selected' feature can then be used on the filtered list.
Filter on field
a. Description
b. Date
c. Time
d. Duration
e. Other Meta Data
With Selected
a. Delete
b. Change Duration9 votes -
Let teachers choose which roles belong in attendance
We have the requirement to let undergraduate interns take attendance, but not be able to view the gradebook. I have successfully created a role that fulfills this requirement. However, they are also included in the attendance list. It wold be nice if teachers could choose which roles are included in the attendance list.

Increase the number of fields
How about if we add more fields to the attendance_log table of the database as well? These extra fields could then be used to track other things such as a doctor's letter handed in. We would use it to track the status of "make up notes" we require for students who miss class.

Site-wide and category wide reporting
It would be very helpful to be able to get a csv report of attendance across course categories, and especially site-wide. For schools that manage a large number of different courses, and who have attendance reporting requirements it would save a lot of time if we could run a weekly report on the attendance of all active/currently enrolled students.

Import CSV/Excel Data
Hi,
At my institution there exists a barcode reader system which scans the Student ID's and dumps it out to a CSV file. If the attendance module had an upload feature to upload a CSV/excel/text file (similar to the export feature), we could use the system to import the taken attendances in large classes. This would significantly ease the amount of clicking which must be done in order to take role/attendance in a large (>80 students) class, where the current system becomes a little unwieldy.
I did note that there was someone who was suggesting a barcode reader in another… more

Teachers would see just their courses in all courses view (not all courses)
Teachers can see attendance in student report all courses view for all courses, not just their courses. It would be better when they could see the attendance of a student just for their courses.

Ability to set all students to a present status at once
As the app functions now you have to choose present, absent, etc. for each student. Would like to be able to mark them all as present and then just make adjustments for those that are not there or those that come late.

Enable support for Mitigating Cirumstances
It would be useful if students could enter information in a field to justify their own absences/missed assessments. This could then link with an institution's Student Record System (be it on Moodle or elsewhere)

Reminder Box
During a lesson it is often necessary for the teacher to write reminders to themselves to do something during the next lesson. This could be done with a reminder box next to the comment box for each student which posts the reminder next to that student in the next session's attendance. eg. "check last week's homework" or "set Photosynthesis test" for students that were absent etc..

confirm the attendance
I need to know how many students will be present at my course, so I would apreciate a possibility to have somthing like a schedule (or a calendar) where my students can confirm the attendance or announce the absence for coming lessons... Thanks.

check against home group period
add a comparative check against a morning homegroup session. to prevent students from attending home group then ducking out. i want to know if the students attended morning home group and then ducked out on my lesson. The import from file feature is important if this module is going to be used seriously.

automatically email an email address all absentees for a session
At our school we send runners around to each class each session to grab the names of absentees so that the office workers can keep track. Automatically emailing these names each session would be great!
